Re: Outcome Measures for GET

I know I have managed to find answers to some of my queries about GET. If an expert can answer the unaswered bit of my query before the clinic shuts down that would be great. 1. Do the clinics hold any data on what I believe is a goal of GET i.e. being able to complete 30mins of moderate exercise on...

Re: Outcome Measures for GET

I've just had a look at the Crawley paper too. If I've understood it correctly the outcome measures are for all services combined, so they could relate to 'CBT, GET, a combination of both or activity management, in group and/or individual treatment sessions of varying number and lengths'. It appears...

Re: Outcome Measures for GET

Whoops. Obviously unless I'm in some weird time travel scenario I mean 2013 not 2103.

Re: Outcome Measures for GET

For Information: I've been pointed in the direction of a paper by Crawley et al. (2103) which looks at clinic outcomes and concludes that fatigue, pain and disability at assessment are predictors of outcomes at 8-20 month follow up.

Re: Thank you!

And a thank you from me to all the experts volunteering their time to try and help us. Many of us are faced with doctors who don't want to know or who are poorly informed. Just to be 'listened to' is a good thing but sadly a rare thing. It has been really helpful to me hearing from both the expert c...

Re: Alcohol Intolerance

Thank you Dr Shepherd. I don't get any pain when I drink alcohol, just more of an instant hangover feeling. I'll have a look at Simon's paper. Thanks.

Re: Outcome Measures for GET

Thank you for the link to the posting by the PACE Trail Research Team PI's. My query was actually about Clinic Outcomes which I thought would provide additional useful information for people who are being offered GET to help make an informed decision about benefits/risks. Whilst the talkhealthpartne...

Alcohol Intolerance

I noticed Dr Shepherd listed alcohol intolerance amongst one of the common symptoms of M.E. Sadly I have this. Obviously if I was adopting a sick role for secondary gain I wouldn't voluntarily choose this particular symptom. I haven't been able to drink alcohol for maybe 5 years. Even half a glass o...

Re: Information Overload

Thank you Dr Shepherd for the link to the MEA literature and thanks also Chris for your helpful advice. From the research I've read I feel it is down at least to oxidative stress and after all the brain needs oxygen as much as our leg, heart muscles etc. The time I'm in real trouble is if I'm having...

Information Overload

NHS treatments for M.E. seem to focus on physical activity. Although I have limited physical stamina I also have limited mental stamina. I have extreme difficulty in maintaining conversations for more than say 10mins. I can literally feel the energy draining out of me and my mind just sort of grindi...
