Re: Pain Clinic Failure
Hi, From my own personal experience the best way of dealing with chronic pain is through targeted, gentle exercises as advised by a physiotherapist. Exercise not only helps to ease pain and stiffness, it also improves mobility and range of movement, so it will make it easier for you to perform every...

Re: Can one prevent attacks of pseudogout?
Hi, Pseudogout is caused by calcium pyrophosphate crystals being deposited in the joints and when it is chronic it causes similar symptoms to those of OA - long term joint damage, pain and stiffness. The main treatments for the flare-ups of pseudogout are rest, ice packs and anti-inflammatory medici...

Re: Back pain
Hi, Unfortunately one in four people who have psoriatic arthritis (PsA) will suffer from pain and stiffness in their neck or back. You sound as though you're doing all you can to manage your condition by exercising and watching your diet etc., so it may be that your GP/rheumatologist needs to review...

Re: Fatigue
Hi, Unfortunately chronic fatigue is a key symptom of seropositive RA. However, I agree with Rachael - if you're constantly suffering from fatigue it may mean that your RA isn't being adequately controlled by the medication you're taking, so this may need to be reviewed by your GP or rheumatologist....

Re: Will this lead to arthritis?
Hi Linda, Osteoarthritis (OA) is basically joint wear and tear and most people will develop it to some degree later in life. However, if a joint is overused or put under stress it is much more likely to develop OA. If you often feel pain in your elbows that suggests to me that the weights you're lif...

Hi, I'm afraid you're right - Elliman's liniment doesn't appear to be available any more. All I can suggest is that your husband and his friend try some different products such as Tiger Balm (white or red), Biofreeze or Flexiseq. Tiger Balm contains cooling, pain-relieving menthol (peppermint oil) ,...

Re: Best way to exercise
Hi, It must be very hard for you to find that your mobility has been so severely affected by RA. I'm wondering if you've seen a physiotherapist, as they would be the best medical professionals to advise you on the types of exercise you can safely do without exacerbating your condition? If you haven'...

Re: Is this the start of arthritis?
Hi, This could well be the start of carpal tunnel syndrome, which is a type of repetitive strain injury. It would be worth seeing your GP for a diagnosis and advice. Also, it's worth asking your employer to carry out an assessment of your workspace ergonomics, as they are responsible for making sure...

Re: Spondylosis, nerve damage? Hellish pain for years
Hi, Judging by your symptoms and the fact your GP has prescribed Gabapentin it sounds likely you are suffering from nerve pain due to having spondylitis. I too suffer from spondylitis, otherwise known as neck arthritis, and also have bulging discs which have caused nerve pain right down to my wrists...
