Re: Non surgical management of stress incontinence

Hello Thank you for your post. For Stress inconinence (which it sounds like you have) pelvic floor exercises are the mainstay of non surgical treatment. They are very effective if adherence is high, that means at minimum three reps of fast and slow contractions (check out the regimen on line or via ...

Re: General

Hi Sandra Thanks for your post. It does sound quite complex your bladder condition. Do you find self catheterisation a problem or are you quite comfortable with doing it? If you are ok with it then I would advise you to avoid a supra pubic catheter. They have their place, but if you can maintain a g...

Re: bladder weakness

Hi Joanne Thanks for your post. It sounds from your post like you have a degree of bladder over activity. Being up twice in the might and having a sudden urge to go corrolate with this diagnosis. It would be worth doing a few things to check. Firstly make sure you’re not suffering from a low level b...

Re: Bladder doesn't fully empty

Hi Mami Thanks for your post. In general, assuming all else is ‘normal’ a residual of 15mls is nothing to be concerned about. We only really raise an index of suspicion if your bladder retains 100mls or more. This can increase your incidence of Infections in the bladder. I hope this has put your min...

Re: Pink urine and back pain

Hi Linda M

My advice is to go back to your GP and ask for a referral so your bladder can be looked at and assessed.

Please follow up on this.

Best wishes.

Re: passing urine is slow but the urgency to go is speedy

Hi Ann Thanks for all the info it’s really helpful. My instinct is to think you may be retaining urine. Have you ever had a scan of your bladder? Do you ever visit the loo very soon after you’ve finished? Do you feel ‘empty’ when you go? Have you had any urine infections? Sorry for the questions but...

Re: overactive bladder

Hi Dolly Definitely. Limiting the foods and fluids you eat and drink with high caffeine, sugar, citrus and spicy contents helps a lot. It won't 'cure' your symptoms but it may help ease them, especially the urgency. E.G, pure orange juice will irritate your bladder, as will a strong espresso! If you...

Re: Over active bladder and bladder diverticulum with a valv

Hi Sue Glad to hear some of the meds are helping, its a shame about the Betmiga. You can increase the dose of Vesicare to 10mgs a day - did you know that? Have a word with your GP. The side effect profile will be increased (dry eyes, mouth, constipation) but this may help. You don't mention your age...

Re: Non stop UTIS since isc

Thanks for your post Aistalgal. Your husband is very lucky to have you taking such care of him and his mental health. It can be very trying starting self catheterisation, especially for men inserting catheters into their penis. It’s not easy. That said he does seem to be having more issues than one ...

Re: painful bladder

Hi Redmaggie. Thanks for posting such detailed info. Your symptoms do sound like painful bladder syndrome (or true interstitial cystitis as you stated you had a haemorrhagic bladder). This is a very debilitating condition as you mention but there are very specific treatment regiemes for this type of...
