Re: Bread

it's possible for wheat to be contributing to the problems with your bowel but avoiding wheat should not cause symtpoms. You should ask your doctor about coeliac disease as this may be the reason wheat was causing your constipation.

Re: Availability of Adrenaline Auto Injectors

Hi the NICE guideline on anaphylaxis does not state 2 pens should be carried - it doesn't specify numbers. If it did there would be less debate! There is some MHRA guidance suggesting this but it has not been widely disseminated. Whilst many specialist (including myself) advocate for 2 pens, other s...

Re: Numerous food and chemical sensitivities

Hi
these would be very unusual symptoms for food allergy/intolerance and sometimes in can be possible relate specific exposures as causal to symptoms, when in fact they aren't. May be worth requesting the help of a general physician to consider all possible causes.

Re: Sudden onset of allergies

this is an unusual situation but unfortuantely a cure for allergies remains elusive. That said, allergies can go away on their own and it is worth getting follow up testing to see if things have changed. Allergies to wheat and soy are typically outgrown.

Re: glycerin allergy

I have never heard of a gycerin allergy so I would be keen you sought confirmation of this. You should be directed to a dietician if you have any food allergy who can go through the practicalities of what you can and can’t have.

Re: ithcy throat child

Hi if this is a recent thing, coinciding with the start of the pollen season I wonder if pollen is getting caught on her hair, rubbed on her pillow and then causing irritation? If it has been going on longer, maybe dust mite allergy has become a problem. Try a dust mite pillow cover and ensure her d...

Re: ?allergy to paprika

Hi
I have also seen children have classical allergic reactions after this albeit very rare. Its worth an allergy test but you will need to take some paprika with you to the appt to get this done

Re: allergy test advice

hi - specific allergies aren't inherited but you need either skin prick tests or IgE allergy tests to rule these out - just ask your GP to do the blood tests an if negative then get on with the food in the diet. Being positive doesn't mean definite allergy and this may require further investigation

Re: Link between allergies & a weakened immune system

i do seem to see and increase in viral infections amongst allergic kids and this may be due to immaturity of the immune system but there is no increase of nasty infections (eg meningitis, pneumonia etc) so really all you can do is ride this out (as long as he is recovering well between them) and rem...
