Re: itching skin

Hi there

Have you tried dead sea salt baths? This helps me. Also, test various different moisturisers to find one that suits you.

I would test a small patch on your leg first.

Re: immunosuppressants -mycophenolate mofetil

In my experience of 30+ years of eczema, no medical practitioner can replace your own experiences with things. I have learned more than anything to research everything before putting it in or on my body.

Prednisolone is potent and will do more harm than topical steroids.

Re: immunosuppressants -mycophenolate mofetil

Mei,

Prednisolone, is a very powerful and dangerous drug (as are all oral corticosteroids). Once again, please approach with caution as many who have stopped this drug go through bad flares... Let me know if you need more info.

Re: worried about protopic side effect

Protopic seems to be the easy go-to answer from most dermatologists to move away from topical steroids. Its essentially swapping one immunosuppressant to another. Like topical steroids, Protopic will only suppress the condition. I wont knock dermatologists, they want a quick-effective solution for y...

Re: Severe eczema for over 20yrs now gone...

Excellent post pepelou!!

I am currently going through topical steroid withdrawal and you're right it does get worse before it gets better. I am looking to raise awareness for this. I am happy for you and the whole experience, I bet, has made you a stronger person!

Re: my eczema is ruining my life

Hi Louise,
Sorry to hear about your issues, but I dont think putting makeup on it is helping. You need to let the skin breathe.

Re: Scars on hands.

I probably wouldnt use bio-oil being fragranced. I would just moisturise with an unscented lotion like Aveeno or Cetraben.

Also look up Dermasilk. I use their clothing and its great. Its available on NHS prescription in the UK and pretty sure they do gloves.

Re: Turmeric takes away the itch!

I tried a turmeric and neem paste when I had a really bad flare up, would wait around 20 minutes then shower it off.. I found it actually worsened the condition for whatever reason. The skin quickly healed a few days after not applying it. I do however drink turmeric and neem powder in a little lemo...
