Re: Skin allergies

Hello. It would be worth getting a referral for patch testing which can identify / confirm triggers for contact allergies as well as informing you about which products might be tolerated.

Re: ULICARIA

Hello. I'm sorry to hear that you are suffering with your urticaria. A lot of allergy or dermatology services run specialist chronic urticaria clinics and it would be worth getting referred to one of these. There are various options of medication dosing and other newer treatments available now. It i...

Re: Nut allergy

Hello. I would advise that you get a referral to see an allergist to have skin prick testing to determine which nuts and seeds you are allergic to or whether you have developed pollen allergies which can cause cross reactions with some of the nuts and therefore an adult onset of food allergies. This...

Re: Oranges?

Hello. We do not generally see allergies to orange but it is possible. Citrus fruits sometimes cause children with eczema to have a localized flare up around their mouth which is irritation rather than allergy. If you are also concerned about this and about possible penicillin allergy, please ask yo...

Re: New allergies

Hello. I would suggest that you ask your GP to refer you to an allergist to take a full clinical history about your symptoms and triggers and to then do targeted testing if indicated.

Re: Allergic rhinitis

Hello. If your GP is struggling to get your symptoms under control and with the symptom of anosmia, which may occur with nasal polyps, I would advise that you ask your GP to refer you to a rhinologist to look up your nose and to find you some pharmaceutical options that work for you.

Re: How can you tell?

If you suspect that you might be allergic; based on reactions to other nuts or previous reactions to almond and coconut, then you should ask your GP to do some allergy tests (specific IgE) or to refer you to an allergy centre who can take a full history and investigate.

Re: All year round runny nose and sneezing

Allergy to house dust mite can cause those symptoms in the winter months. This could be confirmed by a blood test from your GP who can also advise on optimizing your medication to reduce your symptoms.

Re: Allergies in Babies

Dear Linguist, Please ask your GP for a referral to specialist paediatric allergy centre. We do skin prick test in young babies and the results are meaningful. It sounds as though your daughter may be having allergic reactions to legumes (this is quite common) as well as the milk allergy. We would w...
