Re: An emotive post - what goes on in your head?

Hi everyone. Well I can certainly empathise as I have what to me are the ugliest, wrinkliest, oldest looking knobbly blue-veined rough hands in the world! I have seen other people with eczema - and their hands are never anything like as ugly as mine. I spent many years hiding them, and still avoid h...

Re: Climate/Weather and Eczema

My eczema is DEFINITELY better in the summer and DEFINITELY much worse in the winter, as is my health generally. Extremes of temperature upset my skin dreadfully, it hates going out on a cold day and then coming back into a warm house/office etc. Being too hot is also not good, but still not as bad ...

Re: Need Thoughts!

Hi All I would say is, dont use the Cutivate and Protopic at the same time. Cutivate is a steroid cream and Protopic is an immunosuppressant so they are sort of opposites - I dont know what would happen if you used them both at once, but I wouldnt like to risk it! Take care. If you find the Protopic...

Re: Awkward Eczema

Skin doesnt have to be broken or weeping for it to be a yeast infection - neither does it have to smell! - just itchy and red. Try getting some clotrimazole cream for it - Canesten - but if that doesn't work, I would definitely see a doctor. Embarrassing - yes, worth it - YES!

Re: Protopic

Yes its no big deal when you've had it for so long, but being a mum with kids who have it must be hell. Poor you. At least there's things like this forum to get support and help.
Take care

Re: Protopic

Hi Anna - well I thought I had tried everything - but had never heard of Haelan tape - will ask my doctor about it. My boss has hand eczema also, and he is suffering due to the winter weather - split knuckles etc. Will mention it to him.Thanks. PS I have had atopic eczema and asthma all my life and ...

Re: Protopic

Hi Karen, I had the same thing with Protopic, I found it unsuitable for my hands, although I can use it on my face and its okay. I find it itches unbearably for the first day or so, but if I can get through that without ripping my face off, it calms down and the itch goes away completely. Same for t...

Re: Moisturisers and Emollients

Going back to the original thread about emollients etc: if, like me, you find heavy creams like Unguentum Merck etc too "sticky" and they sort of lay on your skin and make it uncomfortable, greasy and if anything, even more irritated, try Aveeno Cream. It works for me, I only put it on in ...
