Re: testicle larger than the other
Dear James It's v common for the testicles to be slightly different sizes and this in itself is nothing to worry about. However, if one testis has changed in size recently this is worth getting checked, and then you should go to see your GP or urologist for an examination and possibly an ultrasound ...

Re: lump on testicle
Dear Simon
Any lumps down there should be checked by examination and often ultrasound - go and see a urologist or your GP as soon as you're able. It's unlikely to be cancer but unless it's checked we cannot be sure.
Cheers

Re: Enlarged prostate
Dear sir These problems are usually very treatable with lifestyle and medications, and your urologist will advise when you see them. Very occasionally you need an operation but this is not common. So try not to worry, go and see your urologist, and with a few changes to lifestyle and possibly a coup...

Re: Getting checked
Dear Sarah Prostate cancer affects 1 white British man in 8 during their lifetimes. This figure doubles to 1 in 4 for those with a father who's had it. If your husband is Black it doubles again to 1 in 2. Hence, your husband should get a PSA tested from the age of 45 (if White) or 40 (if Black). How...

Re: Enlarged Prostate Gland
Dear Norman
I'd recommend an MRI first. And then a trans-perineal prostate biopsy ONLY if the MRI is abnormal.
Cheers

Re: changes to diet to lower risk
Dear Sir A positive family history of prostate cancer in your father or brother doubles your lifetime risk of getting the disease yourself unfortunately. I would thus advise you get a PSA test and see a urologist if abnormal. Much has been written (including by me!) about diet and prostate cancer, b...

Re: Enlarged prostate?
Dear Richard Often these symptoms represent inflammation on top of age-related enlargement of the prostate. Worth getting checked by a GP or urologist, with some basic tests: urine tests, blood tests, a finger exam of the prostate (not as bad as it sounds I promise!), and a flow rate and checking th...

Re: Needing to pee in the night
Dear Judy It's ok to get up at night once to pee at this age, though I'd recommend avoiding caffeine and alcohol especially after 4pm and emptying the bladder before bed. If this doesn't improve things then it's worth seeing your GP or urologist to do some basic tests: blood tests for kidney functio...

Re: Any helpful suggestions, please?
Dear Bohemius I would recommend avoidance of caffeine, spicy foods, acidic drinks, and plenty of water. You can also try bladder training exercises (timed voiding), and if things don't improve in the next 2 months, go and see a urologist if possible. They will then do some basic tests like a flow ra...
