Re: Eczema for 37 years

Hi I am sorry to hear your son’s eczema is troublesome. Some patients can become sensitised to chemicals in skin care and household products which can flare up their eczema when they come into contact with them. The best way of diagnosing this is through formal patch testing. You can also do open pa...

Re: Topical steroid withdrawal

Thank you for your message and I am pleased to hear your eczema has improved. Often steroid withdrawal is a term used to describe the rebound phenomenon that some patients experience. This is where the eczema reoccurs upon cessation of steroids use. Two ways to reduce this is taper the steroid use s...

Re: Eczema on eyelids

Hi

Thank you for your message. A number of rashes can appear on the eyelids and so seeing your GP or Dermatologist for diagnosis is recommended. In the meantime a regular non perfumed moisturiser can help repair the skin barrier.

I hope this is helpful.

Best wishes

Re: Spots in the bottom area

Dear Nurialapuria Thank you for your question. If you are getting breakouts on your bottom I would recommend you review the products you are currently using and consider using skin products with 'actives'. Conditioning your hair and letting it drip on your back/bottom area can clog skin pores leadin...

Re: Skincare routine for acne prone skin

Dear Sukhmani Thank you for your question. For acne prone skin I would recommend you stick to non-comedogenic products including cleansers and moisturisers. Make sure you cleanse twice a day and remove your makeup as this can lead to break outs. You may want to also incorporate 'actives' into your s...

Re: How can I keep my face clear?

Dear Janet Thank you for your message. I would agree that rich moisturisers and oils should be avoided is you have oily skin as this is likely to lead to breakout. If your acne is under control and you are not having significant breaks outs then your skin care regime can make a big difference. Make ...

Re: Is it vitiligo?

Dear Spottypjs

Thank you for your question. It is difficult to give accurate advice without examining your skin. I would therefore recommend that you see either a GP with a special interest in dermatology or a Dermatologist.

Best wishes

Re: Embracing the summer with vitiligo

Dear Winnie Thank you for your question. Often patients who have fair skin notice that their vitiligo is more noticeable during the summer as the rest of their normal skin will tan, due to the presence of the pigment cells that are absent in patches of vitiligo. Areas of vitiligo burn easily in the ...

Re: Vitiligo

Hi Tracey Thank you for your question. Vitiligo can be unpredictable and whilst some areas start to re-pigment, other sites can start to de-pigment and grow bigger in size. Repeated trauma such as rubbing or scratching the skin may trigger vitiligo or exacerbate it so reducing friction may help prev...
