Re: hair regrowth

Hi Chalkie, Thanks for your question and like you, I am also very skeptical of the miracle cures we often see advertised for our hair, skin and nails! Personally, I don't think there is any such thing as a "regrowth potion" that is going to give us all thick, luscious locks. That said, there is scie...

Re: Hair Loss

Dear Alison, Thank you so much for taking the time to post a question. Your hair loss may be due to a number of factors. It is possible you are suffering with female pattern hair loss which can affect women as they get older, however you also mention that you take a number of medications which could...

Re: Cocodamol

Dear William, Thank you so much for taking the time to post a question. Co-codamol is not a medication typically associated with hair loss. I have also checked PubMed (and the scientific literature) to see if there are any rare reported cases and was able to find very little to associate the two. Fr...

Re: hair thining and loss and medicatin

Thank you so much for taking the time to post a question. Hair loss is often multi-factorial and there may more than one reason why you have noticed these changes in your scalp hair. Anaemia caused by nutrient deficiency (e.g. iron, vitamin B12, folic acid), certain medications, and also chronic hea...

Re: Can i have it too???

Many thanks for taking the time to post a question. Someone else has also asked if vitiligo is hereditary and i am going to post my response below: Vitiligo can run in families but the inheritance pattern is complicated as there are multiple causative factors involved. Variations in over 30 genes oc...

Re: natural way?

Many thanks for taking the time to post a question.

I am afraid I am not aware of any good scientific trials in vitiligo that demonstrate the benefit of natural treatments.

Best wishes,

Anjali

Re: White patches on my 5 years old girl

Many thanks for taking the time to post a question. It is hard to comment on the best treatment without seeing your daughter. There are conditions other than vitiligo that can leave pale patches on the cheeks in children (e.g. pityriasis alba). I suggest you take her to see your family doctor if you...

Re: daily care

Many thanks for taking the time to post a question. Protecting skin from the sun and avoiding sunburn is one of the most important parts of daily skincare for those with vitiligo. Affected patches of skin which are white have no natural protection (or melanin) against the sun's rays and are likely t...

Re: hereditary

Many thanks for your question. Vitiligo can run in families but the inheritance pattern is complicated as there are multiple causative factors involved. Variations in over 30 genes occurring in different combinations have been associated with an increased risk of developing vitiligo and about 20% of...

Re: Vitiligo

Thank you for your question.

I am not aware of coconut oil helping pigmentation return in vitiligo in the scientific literature.

Best wishes,

Anjali
