Re: Admin - Please can you tell me why Experts are not answe

Thank so much... we know you are doing your best but unfortunately the answers that were given to questions answered were already known by the patient or totally incorrect. We have many thyroid forums, and two which feature prominently are Thyroid Patient Advocacy, Thyroid UK and this is where you w...

Re: Sub-total thyroidectomy due to graves

A low fT3 can lead to strokes and other complications and should be rectified urgently. I am appalled at the doctors response. Mireille My TFT results from 20/12/2011: FT3 2.1 pmol/L (3.6-6.4); TSH 3.5 mu/L (0.30 -6.00); FT4 11.2 pmol/L (10.0-22.0) These test results are reportedly within "norm...

Re: Medication help

Dear Professor Lazarus, I am also hypothyroid and INSISTED to have my fT3 measured as I was feeling near death on synthetic T4. My fT3 came back BELOW range on 75mcg T4. My fT3 continued to drop the higher the dose of T4 showing that I needed T3. If my fT3 had never been measured, no one would have ...

Re: intollerance to throxine

I am sorry I don't agree. Her symptoms mimic mine when on T4. I, amongst thousands of others worldwide are INTOLERANT to synthetic T4. This is proven by the amount of forums and thyroid help sites which have been in existence for many, many years, since natural desiccated thyroid became unlicensed a...

Re: so in your opinion what is an ideal TSH

Hi there

It's impossible to advise without having your fT4 and fT3 readings with their reference ranges as well. A TSH only will not tell anyone anything. If you have them then you may have more success if your posted them.

Re: Standards Inconsistent - Thyroid Symptoms

Well saId, Galathea. The RCP (when questioned by ThyroidUK), GMC and the Department of Health have all stated that there are no formal guidelines for the management and diagnosis of hypothyroidism and the BTA, RCP, and The Association for Clinical Biochemistry Guidelines are Statements/Guidance whic...

Re: Being weaned off thyroid replacement. Please advise!

Thank you Professor Dayan. I had read the other post but as I cannot convert T4 to T3 as well as not being able to tolerate T4, my only option is the T3 I am currently taking. I am willing to take the risks as being bedridden is not an alternative. The symptoms are so unbearable that I would not wan...
