Re: what is bipolar disorder and what is the solution of it

I do sometimes wonder if I've got this. My moods are like a rollercoaster: I can dip from high to lows at the drop of a hat. I have been diagnosed with something else, but I think I have bi-polar: not what the psychiatrist has said I have. My moods are awful and it isn't great going through motions ...

Would You Consider Shaving Your Head?

I would consider it. In fact, in a few years, I may well do so.

It seems radical, but I will one-day. Possibly when I am 50 years old. Note: I wouldn't shave my head because of cancer, but out of choice. I'd start with a crop, then see what I thought.

Over to you.

Re: Personal Behaviour

I'm sorry you're going through this: behaviour does change during times of stress and stress can make you lash out and just be aggressive generally speaking. I appreciate it is hard for you, but finding an outlet for your frustration - and grief, even - is the only way forward. I think talking to a ...

Re: How to reduce stress levels?

I do think everyone deals with stress in different ways: some go to bed early, so as not to wake up tired and cranky. Others talk to family and friends, while others see the doctor or a counsellor. Medication is an option, but there are many ways to deal with stress without resorting to medication. ...

How Do You Support An Older Father?

I don't mean physically, but emotionally - rather than mentally. I shall make sure to include my dad in daily activities and just help him out with the house, shopping, etc. But how do I encourage him to go out and socialize more? It must be very lonely for him with no partner in his life. His compu...

Re: Bereavement

You've suffered a terrible loss. These feelings will never leave: bereavement can last a lifetime. I have nearly lost a close friend - Michael - to dementia and I am always upset about it. I will never forget who he was. No one will ever forget those special memories of their loved ones and those im...

Re: I want to be okay with being alone

I can understand where you're coming from and the struggle you're facing. But you are NOT alone in your life and you must have friends who do care and do also want to connect with you. You need to open your heart in a way that doesn't leave you vulnerable. In a way that shows people you want friends...

Re: How to reduce stress levels?

I agree with those tips to reduce stress: I'd advise them myself. I do know that a lot of people try to reduce stress by drinking alcohol. But this is not a good way to deal with stress. Alcohol can actually worsen it. Plus, there is a danger of being addicted to alcohol if the solution every night ...

Re: How To Overcome Depression?

Your friend is not alone Faith. I think she is fortunate to have you as a friend. Just listen to her and don't pressure her. She needs this time alone to work out her feelings. I feel just offering an olive branch is all you need so. Let her ask for help.

Re: What's the difference between depression and boredom?

I read this thread with interest. Because years ago, I would often lie in bed, unable to get up. I wondered if it was depression or just being lazy/bored. So I saw the doctor and told her. They realized it was - in fact - depression. Because I am now much better. I know this because I am much more m...
