Short answer to a long question: I think you need to go back to your surgeon and nurse and be as frank as you are here. Depending on the tumour type you could still be suitable for vaginal and/or oral/transdermal estrogen.

I would seek an urgent referral for ultrasound and perhaps intravenous antibiotics.

I would do a pregnancy test at home, and if it's negative repeat it after a few days to be sure. if any doubt at all ask your GP for an urgent blood test, or if any unusual bleeding or pain go to A&E
