Re: Endo/ cancer

Hello I think it’s extremely unlikely you have ovarian cancer (pain isn’t a common presenting symptom) and it could quite easily be an exacerbation of your endometriosis. Ovarian cancer is known as the silent killer because often there are very few symptoms (bloating, vague abdominal discomfort, wei...

Re: Painful intercourse after menopause

Hello Pain that lasts for a few days after intercourse could be related to a number of things, the most likely is bowel spasm or irritable bowel syndrome. The large bowel (colon) and small bowel lies behind and over the womb and this can be jiggled around during intercourse, sometimes this leads to ...

Treatment very much depends on the size, number and site of the fibroids within the uterus and also whether you've completed your family has an important bearing on treatment as some have a small risk of hysterectomy.

Re: Feelings of tiredness and loss of physical feeling

Hello I agree the drop in hormones after your menopause is likely to be the cause. It may be the lack of oestrogen but it might also be a lack of testosterone causing your reduced libido. (Women produce testosterone from the ovaries which also stops at the time of the menopause) Tibolone has more te...

Re: Painful intercourse after menopause

Hello Vagifem pessaries used twice a week are completely safe. The dose isn't strong enough to cause any systemic risk, in fact if you use vagifem for a year it's equivalent to using HRT for 1 day! It's less messy than creams but because the dose is so low it may be 6 weeks before you see any improv...

Re: Strange Vaginal Discharge

Hello The blood stained discharge is an easy one to answer, you're having an occasional period! It's not unusual for the ovaries to undergo the odd 'menstrual cycle' after the menopause resulting in a little bleed, this would also explain the pelvic cramps and often breast tenderness can occur ( pre...

Re: Adhesions

Hello Not an easy question to answer. Endometriosis can certainly cause adhesions, sometimes the ovaries can stick to the pelvic side walls or the back of the uterus and in severe cases the bowel/rectum can become hitched up/stuck to the back of the cervix or womb. Surgery to divide these adhesions ...

Re: Painful intercourse after menopause

Hello You definitely don't have to put up with this! It's going to be due to either a problem with the skin ( menopausal atrophy, inflammatory conditions i.e. lichen sclerosis etc) or an anatomical problem such as scar tissue or a deficient perineum. Topical oestrogen cream would be the first thing ...

Re: Prolapse surgery

Hello I'm very pleased to hear you're having a uterosacropexy, its going to become the gold standard for correcting uterine prolapse (NICE approved) instead of the often performed vaginal hysterectomy/repair which unfortunately is still being performed for this problem and in my view is much less ef...
