Re: New allergies

Based on my own life long problems I find it best to avoid them OR take time out from them then reintroduce them to your diet gradually in small quantities If you 'feed' the allergies by continuing to eat things which don't agree it's harder for your body to cope and get back to normal. Make sure yo...

Re: Oranges?

I sometimes have a reaction to various foodstuffs like oranges, particularly when they're very acidic. Likewise tomatoes, onions, apples, mango, pineapple etc etc, the list goes on.However, many of these foods I can cope with, in smaller quantities, when cooked. Cooking changes the structure of food ...

Re: Does eczema make you unattractive?

As a child I had other children refuse to hold hands with me as theri mothers said I might have soemthing they could 'catch' ! As an adult people tend to either avoid looking at you directly (thi...

Eczema around mouth

I've had eczema (here/there and everywhere on my body) since birth (now in my early 70's). Most of the time I'm on top of things but recently I've had irritation around my mouth. When I was a child eating certain fruits (anything acidic--ie oranges/apples/tomatoes etc) caused this unattractive probl...

Re: I suffer eczema and dry flaky skin on my eyelids

Hello Antony, I too occasionally have this problem which has been with me since birth (I'm in my 70's!!) I use a soapless/unperfumed facial wash (Green People (organic) do a good one) and warm water to wash and soften the skin. My GP has given me hydrocortisone 0.05% cream which I apply to the affec...

Re: Ashame of a pain

Buy some special gloves on Amazon (Dr Arthritis and other suppliers). Wear these when you're on 'cold duty' at work. Better still just wear some winter gloves if you have some.

Shooting pain down outside edge of right hand

Not sure whether this pain is arthritis or not. Have had treatment from hospital physio for stiff right hand/trigger finger of the ring finger (RH) and swelling/pain at base of right thumb. It's taken a while using hand exercises/cotton arthritis gloves (Dr Arthritis on Amazon) and a cortisone injec...

Re: Shoulder blade pain - remedy?

I had pain in my left shoulder after keyhole surgery. When I mentioned this to the consultant during a check up he, without hesitation, said that's coming from your neck. Have since been to an osteopath for some GENTLE manipulation which seems to be helping. Some pain is referred from the spine. I ha...

Re: swollen knuckles

Have you tried taking Cod Liver oil capsules? They take a while to work but do seem to help with the stiffness. I had stiff/sore knuckles so started taking these. Also got a referral to the physio, who specialises in hand problems, at my local hospital for a proper diagnosis and practical suggestion...

Re: Perspiring increases atopic eczema

Many thanks for the information confirming the problem with salt from my perspiration. The body must produce it because I've always disliked salty foods and use minimum in cooking. Already use soap substitutes and try to keep as well moisturised as possible but one can always do better Upping the num...
