Re: Dry skin in nasal passages

You're absolutely right about heating! Indoor heating is one of the big culprits for drying out the skin. Could you try turning the temperature down slightly? Humidifiers could potentially help the nasal passages as well. In terms of the inside of the nose, it would be worth seeing your doctor to ex...

Re: Sensitivity as you age

Hi there, It's not unusual to find that the skin gets more sensitive with age. It's known that your skin barrier function may becomes slightly less effective over time. Often anti-ageing products can be quite irritant as well, so make sure you ration these. Pick intensively hydrating products that r...

Re: Dehydrated, sensitive skin with psoriasis

Poor you! This sounds very uncomfortable. Scalp and hairline psoriasis can be a real nuisance. The good news is that there are lots of products that can help. I think it sounds like you need medicated treatment. See your doctor to ensure you are using a regular psoriasis shampoo (a combination of co...

Re: Sensitive skin

Hi there, It's difficult to tell exactly what this is. Are you known to be dermographic? For some people, just the process of any pressure on the skin can cause a reaction. There are other physical forms of urticaria such as aquagenic (water related), cholinergic (related to exercise/heat) and cold ...

Re: New Moles and raised moles

HI there, First of all, if you have any concern about moles, you need to book an appointment with your doctor to have a full mole check as soon as possible. The lighter area around the mole may represent a 'halo naevus'. This is sometimes caused by the body reacting to the group of pigment cells (me...

Re: Eczema Flare Ups

Hi there, Sorry she is still getting flare ups. This is often just the natural history of eczema, rather than anything you are doing wrong. To try and prevent this from happening, ensure she is not using anything that could flare the eczema eg fragranced products, body washes etc. Use a daily unscen...

Re: Sensitive Skin

Hi there, I don't advise people with sensitive skin use a toner. Toners are often helpful to remove excess oil and I find have more of a place in oily, acne prone skin regimes. I do tend to advise cleansing and moisturising up to twice a day, depending on skin type. For sensitive skin, pick cream ba...

Re: Scars

Hi there, Sorry to hear this.

First off, it's early days. Scars improve over months - years, so there is still lots of potential to improve spontaneously.

Massage with either a thick paraffin based ointment or a scar repair balm. Use unscented products and do this daily.

Good luck,
BW

Re: Coconut oil

Whilst I know some people do find coconut oil helpful, I don't routinely advise it. I definitely don't advise it on the face, where it can clog pores. I think there are better body moisturisers though, which contain carefully balanced ingredients to penetrate the stratum corneum and provide effectiv...

Re: best cream for rosacea

Hi there, Make sure your day to day skincare is super gentle, unfragranced with no acid toners or harsh exfoliators or washes. Protect against UV, even in the winter. In terms of medicated creams, the newest cream on the market is topical (ie a cream to put on the skin) ivermectin (the cream NOT the...
