Re: Smear test as a virgin

Hi Jasmine , can we suggest that you talk this through with your GP practice and ask if you can wait till you are married. This is clearly important to you , and as you have had no sexual contact up to this point , it is unlikely that there will be any changes to your cervix. putting your first test...

Re: Smear test results

Not really Rosemary.
You should go for your smears when invited.
HPV is passed on by sexual contact , so we can see where your nurse is coming from , but HPV can lie dormant for some time , so just because you may not have sex for a while , it doesn't mean you shouldn't have your smear

Re: urine test for smear

You are quite correct , this research is underway and shows promise.
It is likely to years before it is ready for general, effective use , so keep going for your cervical screening ( smear ) when invited !

Re: Hysterectomy recommended at 39

Hi Chana,
We are sorry to hear about the pain you are going through.
So if your ovaries are not removed you won't experience early menopause.
You will however be relieved of your cyclical periods and hopefully therefore the pain.
We wish you well.

Re: Hysterectomy after taking Tamoxifen

Delighted to hear you are well after your breast cancer treatment>
Can we suggest you talk to your gynaecologists to explain the risks and benefits of this surgery ?
Are they considering genetic implications? From what you describe it doesn't sound likely ?

Re: Hysterecomy and smear tests

So if you have had a total hysterectomy ( info will be on your health records) then your cervix will have been removed and you won't need to attend for cervical screening ( smear tests ).
