Re: Diet and sensitive skin

Hi Ian, Sorry you are struggling with you skin. Have you been formally diagnosed with psoriasis? We do know that lifestyle can have quite a big impact on psoriasis. It's not the underlying cause. We know that psoriasis is a tendency within you and has a strong genetic basis. However, alcohol, smokin...

Re: Newly diagnosed with rosacea in late 30's

Hi there, Sorry to hear you are worrying about the possibility of rhinophyma, a chronic swelling of the nose that can be associated with rosacea. You are absolutely right that rhinophyma is much more common in men than women. There have been a few cases of rhinophyma in women, but it is rare. So the...

Re: My father has rosacea

Hi there, Sorry to hear your father is having a rough time with rosacea. There are lots of things you can do. As I have said before in a number of different posts, treating rosacea is all about targeting each different aspect of the condition and its causes. Firstly, look at lifestyle - ie simple th...

Re: Is rosacea hereditary?

Hi there, Thanks for your question. A tendency towards rosacea may well be hereditary, so if a family member has it, you may have a higher chance of developing it, but that doesn't mean you will. It's certainly not inevitable and it's thought that rosacea is caused partly by genetics and partly by l...

Re: Thread veins

Hi there, Thanks for your post and please don't feel like a fraud, it's a great question! There are lots of different types of rosacea. Some people have lots of spots, whereas some will just have some mild redness and broken veins (known as erythematotelangectatic rosacea). Equally the broken veins ...

Re: Rosacea

Hi there, Sorry to hear you haven't had much success with treatment so far, but rest assured that there are many other treatment options open to you. You mention lifestyle and it's important to minimise the triggers, so limit alcohol, avoid smoking and eat healthily. Incorporate a broad spectrum sun...

Re: Diagnosis

Hi Polly, Sorry to hear that your rosacea is still active. People often get disheartened to learn that rosacea is a chronic condition and can't be cured. However, I think by targeting different aspects of rosacea in different ways, we can actually manage people really successfully, so definitely don...

Re: Rosacea & Coming off the pill

Hi Catherine, Thanks very much for your post. As I'm sure you know, there is still quite a bit about rosacea that we don't fully understand and I think the hormonal influences on the condition is still an area of uncertainty. However, I definitely think that some women will find a change in their ro...

Re: Rosacea and Blepharitis

Hi there, Sorry to hear that you are suffering. I think some people suffer more with their eyes and others with their skin and it's difficult to know exactly why. I'm not sure if you've had any treatment already? Treatment of blepharitis starts with simple measures like lid cleaning and warm compres...

Re: My newborn has very dry skin

Great question!

There are currently studies going in the uk looking at the importance of moisturising babies skin.

I would advise a very bland greasy moisturiser similar. Your gp can advise on the exact one.

Best wishes
