Re: itchy and flaky ear lobes!

Hello, it sounds suspicious of contact allergy (allergic contact dermatitis - see my other posts). Are you wearing earrings by chance? Do you dye your hair? alternatively this could be eczema which comes from inside (atopic or seborrheic) or psoriasis. I would recomend to see your doctor or a dermat...

Re: Freckles

Hello,

there is no a cut off point to answer your question. We know that people with frecles, fair skin and blue eyes are more susceptible to sun damage and need to be more careful with sun.

Re: skin on my face & neck - any advice?

Hello Kate, I agree with my colleagues. From your description this could be seborrhoeic dermatitis, see: http://www.dermnetnz.org/dermatitis/seborrhoeic-dermatitis.html it could also be your (atopic) eczema playing up (eczema can come back in adult years), and you could also develop an allergic reac...

Dear Harri112,

just to say that I completely agree with Dr Bowling: if lesion (lump) changed it is a good idea to check it again.

Re: Please Help

Hello Lauren, I completely agree with my colleages. I would just stress again that ti is vitally important to continue to use emollient generously even if your skin is in a good condition/clear, and when it flares up you will need to use steroid creams or tacrolimus/pimecolimus topical preparations....

Re: Seborrheic Keratosis.

Hello, First of all, I would have another chat with your GP. Although cosmetic procedures are not done on NHS, if lesions catch or bleed, they tend to be removed on NHS (though it may depend on local funding arrangements). Talking about private treatment London I am afraid tends to be more expensive...

Re: Firm white bump on nose

Hi, well done for seeing your gp so soon! first of all I would wait to see what your dermatologist says. It could be a typical basal cell carcinoma (BCC) from the first look, it could be typical something else benign or it may require a diagnostic biopsy - taking a small piece of skin from the lesio...

Re: Darkened Skin on Face

Hello again, you probably had a long enough trial of Protopic. I would still consider Elidel. Aveeno is fine, many patients like it and it is very natural too. regarding scratching - I would suggets to try moisturizers as advised above and you would probably still need either topical steroids or Eli...

Re: Darkened Skin on Face

Hello again, sunny81! Protopic (tacrlolimus) often stings for the first month of use or so but this often settles if you carry on with it. Have you tried pimecrolimus (Elidel)? It works in a similar way to Protopic but tends to sting less. best wishes, Dr Anton Alexandroff Consultant Dermatologist B...
