Re: pmt/ serve mood swings and migraines

You’re absolutely right not to have taken your GP’s treatment, as you’re NOT depressed – you’ve got the classic presentation of perimenopause, which typically affects women in their mid-to-late thirties or early forties, and carries on until periods cease with the menopause. Perimenopause (for a ful...

Re: Neverending thrush

If you've had symptoms for a year and only had swabs taken twice, then your problem hasn't been properly investigated. Yes - it's probably thrush, because thrush typically gets worse before menstruation - but there may be several more things going on, given that it doesn't seem to cause you too much...

Re: Bumbs and rashes on Mons Pubis

Sorry I don't know about the hair growth - but your condition can be improved by antibiotics +/- hormones. If the initial treatment given by the GP doesn't work, then you should consider asking them to refer you to a dermatologist.

Re: Bumbs and rashes on Mons Pubis

It's difficult to guess what the problem is from your description, but the bumps could be molluscum contagiosum (a non-serious viral infection confined to the skin which is passed by close bodily contact & is easily treatable, see: http://www.bad.org.uk/site/845/Default.aspx ) or - if the bumps ...

Re: Do I have vaginal thrush?

If you've got any amount of itching or irritation it may be the early signs of thrush (candida / fungal infection) developing, or it could be a skin allergy - to new soaps/showergels etc - or it might be due to simple friction trauma if you're sexually active. If it doesn't get better by itself in a...

Re: Smell, piercing & discharge

Hi - your smelly vaginal discharge is most likely to be Bacterial Vaginosis (BV), which is a change in the balance of germs in the vagina, often caused by excessive bleeding. It is also associated with chlamydia, which is the commonest cause of intermenstrual spotting bleeding in young women (except...

Re: HPV Vaccine, cervical cancer and side effects

Hi - I'm very sorry to hear of this problem which may (or may not) be specifically related to the vaccine, as there are bound to be a few cases of unexplained alopecia occurring in the millions of girls & young women who have received the vaccine, although the timing of onset in your daughter's ...

Re: PCOS

Hi - from your previous history, if you have PCOS and required a double dose of clomid to help you ovulate/conceive, then it is exceptionally unlikely that this will happen spontaneously in the future - you can never be 100% certain about this, but how long do you want or need to wait? No amount of ...

Re: Vaginal discomfort

Hi - cyclically recurrent thrush occurs because a woman's immune system is lowest in the few days before each period. It's the same mechanism which causes acne, urticaria, cold sores etc to get worse or recurr at this time. The best way to deal with it is to work out the timing of onset of symptoms ...
