Re: Staph infections

Hi there! We wash using an anti-bacterial cleanser, like Octenisan and when we see the persistent rashes despite applying topical cream, we may wipe down the skin with chlorhexidine and then moisturize and wrap with tubifast that's soaked with zinc sulphate (prescribed by dermatologist). Staph is ju...

Re: Too itchy to sleep for almost 6 (long + stressful) years

I'm sorry to hear of the never sleeping! I can totally understand - it felt like we never slept till she's about 4-5 years old.. I tried a few things but I'm not sure if they will work for you: 1. Shower closer to the bedtime & moisturize loads 2. Anti-dust mite everything and all wash in hot wa...

Re: Red skin and eczema

Hi! It's definitely not normal as eczema skin should not be 'burning'.. neither should it be very red.. do see a dermatologist and watch out for fever symptoms which are then possible signs of bacterial infection.. take care!

Re: 10 year eczema sufferer - CURED?!

Thanks for the sharing and this is such good news! And yes, not just for adults, even for young children, doctors usually recommend them to be outdoors, doing some exercise, fresh air. The main reason is that kids are mostly sensitive to dust mites which is pretty much an indoor irritant. And of cou...

Re: Toctino - anyone tried it? I would like to hear from you!

Hope you get better soon! And instead of plastic wrap, may want to consider wrap like Tubifast (and there're other brands as well) to just keep the moisture in longer and can be washed :) Take care!

Re: Pompholyx

Hi! Sorry to see that your hands are affected.. not sure of natural remedy but I think have to investigate the causes of the flare-up.. cos if the cream works, then flare up, would then be triggered by something.. water, detergents, solvents, friction, nickel? Hope your hands will get better soon!

Re: Finding the cause

I use hypoallergenic detergent but washed it in a baby care cycle that takes about 1.5 hours to 2 hours, with water heated above 60 deg C to kill dust mites. I find that the cycle matters more than the type of detergent.. cos as my child gets older, we opted for normal detergent but keeps to a long ...

Re: Can emollients make skin worse initially?

Don't think should persevere if the cream makes the skin worse.. can go for patch testing at dermatologist to see which ingredient is causing it.. could be something more common eg mineral oil which irritates some people's skin (but otherwise generally an useful ingredient for increased moisture).. ...

Re: My 4 Month Old Baby Has Weeping Eczema (Pics attached)

You can try getting an allergy test and if there's no clue from there (like my child's eczema was triggered by sweat and inherently dry skin with staph bacteria), then mostly, it's keeping cool and moisturizing, with wet wraps or anti-microbial wipes depending on whether the itch looks like it's mor...

Re: Lip Eczema experience

Sorry to hear of misdiagnosis and suffering for so many months.. lip balm without fragrance usually works for my daughter though her case is very mild and likely due to dehydration, which then sometimes becomes skin irritation. Or when her face is really dry, we would use a ceramide moisturizer in l...
