Re: Rash

Sorry to hear you are struggling with this. It's difficult to give you an exact diagnosis from your description and it strikes me that you need to see a dermatologist, who can listen to your story and your pictures and maybe do some tests. It comes on quickly and heals relatively, so I think the vir...

Re: Thin Skin & Bruising

Hi there, sorry to hear your Mum is having problems with this. It can be normal to have increased bruising as the skin thins with age, but I always want to rule out any other underlying causes. It would definitely be worth checking that her doctor has assessed her blood clotting with a simple blood ...

Re: Flat moles which sometimes bleed

Hi there, any concerning mole like lesions should always be checked out in a timely fashion by a doctor. However, from your description, it sounds like you have seborrhoeic keratoses. https://www.dermnetnz.org/topics/seborrhoeic-keratosis/ I would advise you see your GP to confirm this and they can ...

Re: slow healing open wound on foot

Hi, Sorry to hear about your wound. Unfortunately, wounds on the lower leg or foot can take some time to heal, because the blood drainage from the veins is sluggish from this area. You are absolutely right to have seen the doctor and practice nurse and if the yellow discharge gets more, see them imm...

Re: Amelia and eczema.

So sorry to hear about the frustrating experience you have had.

I would also advise the Comfifast vest and leggings brand as an alternative, as outlined by the helpful response below.

Good luck and best wishes.

Re: Molluscum Contagiosum

I agree with Dr Alexandroff that most molluscum will settle by itself within about 18 months.

My go to topical treatment is Molludab which is available over the counter.

Best wishes

Re: Chicken skin

Hi there, I wonder if by "chicken skin" the doctor meant Keratosis pilaris. This is a common condition resulting in bumps on the back of the arms, thighs and face. I would start with a moisturiser, because KP can often go along with dry skin. KP is difficult to treat. Once your baby gets o...

Re: Potential cause of eczema?

Hi, Its such a good question! I think we are just at the cusp of understanding more about how gut health and skin health are linked. There is evidence that probiotics can help reduce the risk of eczema, but once eczema has developed, the jury is a little out. It may be that a combination of probioti...

Re: eczema and b12

Hi there, I'm so pleased to hear your eczema settled. Lots of studies have been done to see if vitamin supplementation helps eczema and unfortunately, even though a few individuals might be helped (like yourself), on a larger scale, vitamins don't routinely appear to help eczema. There is lots of re...

Re: Eczema and sleep

I'm so sorry to hear you are suffering. I think your case demonstrates so well that even if you optimise all of the environmental factors, there is often part of eczema which is intrinisic within your skin. The itch you are getting suggests there is significant inflammation within your skin. You men...
