Re: Psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis
Many thanks for your question. You are absolutely correct that some people with psoriasis are at higher risk of developing psoriatic arthritis. If you have any concerns about persistently aching joints it is important to let your GP or dermatologist know so that a rheumatologist is able to review yo...

Re: Scalp psoriasis and hair loss
Dear KN, Thank you for taking the time to post a question. There is more than one way to treat scalp psoriasis and each dermatologist is likely to have their preferred method of treatment. My approach to patients in clinic is this: 1. Cocois/Sebco ointment on alternate nights (overnight) to be left ...

Re: 2 year old has very bad eczema
Dear SM, Thank you for taking the time to post - it sounds like your little one is having a difficult time at the moment. The winter months when the weather is cold and the central heating is on are a common time of year for eczema to flare up and get worse. If the eczema has become particularly act...

Re: 10 year old girl
Thank you very much for your question.
Pompholyx eczema usually has a number of causes and is often multifactorial. Causes include genetics, sweating, contact with materials than can irritate the skin (e.g. detergents) or allergy (e.g. to metals such as nickel).
Best wishes,
Anjali

Re: Can you get rid of Excema and/ Psoriasis?
Both eczema and psoriasis are considered to be chronic inflammatory skin conditions. Whilst they may improve for long periods of time, the underlying tendency towards these conditions remains and a flare-up is always possible. Generally speaking, treatments tend to be geared toward "control&quo...

Re: Psoriasis in the ears
Dear Maralyn, Many thanks for taking the time to post a question. Psoriasis in the ears can be a nuisance! The problem usually waxes and wanes but it is common for it to be worse in the winter months. When psoriasis is very active - and the skin is red, inflamed, itchy or scaly - it can be helpful t...

Re: Sleep deprivation
Dear "Debbimac", Thank you for taking the time to post a question and i'm sorry to hear that eczema is causing sleep problems in your child. This can be extremely common when eczema is active and inflamed and puts pressure on your child and the rest of the family - sleepless nights are no ...

Re: Hair issue
Dear Sana, Many thanks for taking the time to post your question about scalp hair loss and increased facial hair growth. There are a number of reasons that scalp hair loss can occur. From the combination of symptoms you describe, I think it is a good idea that your hormonal profile amongst other blo...

Re: Bites
Dear Elaine, Many thanks for taking the time to post your question. I also agree entirely with Vanessa that insect bites can sometimes leave some pigmentation change in the skin. This is more common in pigmented skin but can happen in all skin types, particularly if there was significant inflammatio...
