Re: L.P.H.S - fact or fiction?
Really good question and you are correct that there is come controversy about this disorder. Certainly it is diagnosed less commonly than it used to be as our imaging and investigations are more detailed and able to pick up other diagnoses that used to be called loin pain haematuria syndrome. You al...

The mainstay of reduced rick of recurrent infections and kidney protection is ensuring good general heath and a high fluid balance. If you are suffering from recurrent infections and kidney infections (pyelonephritis) you should have a kidney ultrasound scan to ensure your kidney are healthy and not...

Re: Kidneys/bladder.
That is certainly a risk in certain types of neuropathic bladders. You should ensure you have had a kidney ultrasound to check that the kidneys are not effected. I am sure your local urologist or your GP would want to arrange this for you.

Re: Kidney stones
That is a really good question and surprisingly difficult to answer. Once stones are established only stones made of uric acid can be altered by dietary factors. The vast majority of stones cannot be dissolved by dietary manipulation. However once the stones are removed then dietary modification can...

Re: Vitamins, Minerals, Supplements for Kidneys
Hi there,
the best thing for your kidneys is plenty of fluid to ensure they are well hydrated. Supplements etc do not effect kidney function and shouldn't do any harm assuming that you have healthy kidneys in the first place!
Hope that helps

Re: Waiting to go
I wouldn't worry. The best thing is probably to have your urine checked by your GP to ensure there is nothing wrong-i.e infection. If that is OK I would try to ensure you don't hold on to your urine for too long. Use the toilet when you can and see if not holding on helps the discomfort.

Hi there ,
they sound like ultrasound scans which are painless and do not include radiation - ideally you should go with a full bladder to ensure good views of the bladder are obtained - go "comfortably full" and let them know you are full when you get there.
