Re: Digestive, Bloating, Excessive Wind & Bowel problems
Hi Pippa A classic symptom of bloating is that it gets worse throughout the day and often people can wake in the morning with a flat stomach. It is often difficult to find out what food (if any) causes problems as some foods causing symptoms can be found widely in the diet - I do hear people say thi...

Re: Could this be IBS?
Hi Peter Some great responses to your question already and I just have one note to add. If you feel that food is causing symptoms please don't change your diet before you have seen your doctor for further tests - it is important that you continue to eat a gluten containing diet for the tests you may...

Re: Constipation with ibs
Hi Some good responses on this question already so I don't have much to add. Linseed's act as a gel in the bowel and hold onto fluid to prevent it being absorbed into the body, this makes stools easier to pass and they can also help with bloating. You should start with a tablespoon a day and can bui...

Re: Stomach Problems
As far as his symptoms are concerned medications can be helpful for symptoms but the biggest concern is the fact that you state he is not eating or drinking well. I think he would be best advised to see his GP again as soon as he can get an appointment, as long as he agrees of course. Severe dehydra...

Re: How do I make my stools easier to pass?
I wonder if you have been to your GP about this problem. Constipation can be caused by some medical conditions and some medications it is worth at least being checked out by your GP in the first instance. To ensure you are following lifestyle advice for constipation you should at least drink 1.6 to ...

Re: How do I manage my bloating?
Hi
It is probably a good idea to discuss this with your doctor before you make any changes as they may wish to do some testing - if you have already been to your GP please post some more information about this then we can provide more advice.

Hi Just a quick note about diet - if you have your symptoms checked out please do not alter or manipulate your diet before you go to your GP. One of the tests that the doctors will check is for coeliac disease and it is essential you are eating sources of gluten for this test for at least six weeks....

Re: Use of FODMAP diet for IBS
Hi Jasoony1 The evidence base for the Low FODMAP diet is that it works for around 70% of people - that of course means that it does not work for 30%. The evidence published so far has been with a dietitian providing this treatment and my experience has been that people are trying this diet without t...
