Re: How can I improve my skin?

Hi Maria, Thanks so much for your question. The good news is that there is so much you can do to improve your skin, so don't give up hope! Firstly, make sure your skin care routine isn't clogging your pores. Avoid oils and heavy, long-wear foundations. Then try adding in some active ingredients like...

Re: Skin terribly greasy

Hi Di, Sorry to hear you're suffering with your skin again. I think you're right and your hormones may be relevant. Around the time of the menopause, oestrogen levels start to fall, so relatively the levels of male hormones (androgens) are higher. This can increase spots and make skin more oily. Pro...

Re: Permanently large pores on cheeks

Hi there, Large pores are a really common concern. Pore size is partly genetically based, but will pores will also get larger overtime, and for some can be part of the ageing process. Whilst it's difficult to totally shrink down pores, there are lots of ways to minimise them. Ensure they are not clo...

Re: Vitiligo treatments

Hi Kerry, Thanks for your questions. We do still use light therapy (phototherapy) as one of our main treatments for vitiligo. If you had it many years ago, you may benefit from another course of treatment, so might be worth checking with your doctor. We also routinely use alternatives to steroid cre...

Re: Vitiligo

Hi Carole, Thanks for your question. Vitiligo is what's known as an autoimmune disease. This mean that the body is essentially reacting to itself. In vitiligo, the body reacts to pigment producing cells within the skin (melanocytes) and stops them from producing pigment (melanin), so white patches o...

Re: Dry itchy skin

Hi Vicki, Sorry to hear this. It sounds like first off, you need a definite diagnosis. Is this eczema? It's definitely worth seeing your doctor about this as they can make sure it's not an allergy or anything else. Without knowing exactly what you have, it's difficult to advise exact treatment. Howe...

Re: Milia

Hi!

Firstly, Is it definitely a milia? If there is any doubt about the nature of it, please do see your doctor.

If not, many beauty therapists will extract these for you I'd advise against picking it yourself, it can lead to scarring

Good luck!

Re: Itchy and flaky ears

Hi there, It's likely to be a form of eczema, but difficult to know exactly which type - atopic eczema and seborrhoeic dermatitis can both affect the ears, as can psoriasis. If you have tried standard moisturisers, I would have a chat with your doctor because you are likely to need an anti-inflammat...

Re: Allergic to sweat/perspiration

Hi there, It's unusual to be allergic to your sweat, but sweat can certainly be irritating for the skin, particularly if you have sensitive skin. 2 thoughts: 1)See if you can reduce the sensitivity of the skin by avoiding harsh wash products and using a regular moisturiser. 2) If you feel you are sw...

Re: Sensitive Skin

Hi there, It's worth checking that it is eczema. Occasionally, sun damage can look a bit like eczema and if it never shifts, it may not be eczema. Do you scratch it a lot? Sometimes people get into the habit of scratching a lot, in which case, it never gets a chance to heal. Covering it with a plast...
