Re: AR treatment for atopic eczema

Hi there, I am certainly aware of Dr Aron and of his positive reputation. I have witnessed firsthand people who have been to see him. In my opinion, his actual treatment regimes and his approach don't differ that greatly from what those of us who have a lot of experience and an interest in eczema, d...

Re: rosacea

Keep skincare extremely simple - avoid fragrances, essential oils or anti-ageing ingredients. Stick with a soap-free cleanser and a moisturiser designed for sensitive skins. Also make sure she uses a daily sunscreen.

Re: Red Faced!

Hi, this could be a form of rosacea. Do you also have sensitive skin and some red spots? If so, see your GP. If not, some people just have very reactive blood vessels in the skin. If emotion makes it worse, sometimes we use beta blocker tablets, so chat to your GP. Laser can also sometimes be helpfu...

Re: Hands with Dry Skin

Avoid soaps and use emollient based washes. Use gloves for washing/cleaning etc. Try a thick greasy ointment - usually in the medical moisturiser (emollient) section - or something that contains urea. If this doesn't help, speak to your GP about a steroid cream.

Re: Struggling to find a safe eczema treatment that works fo

Hi there, If you are struggling with eczema, hopefully you will have seen a dermatologist? If not, do ask your GP for a referral. Avoiding soaps and shower gels is important, as is using a regular unfragranced moisturiser. Most people with eczema can be safely managed with prescription creams of ste...

Re: Breakouts

stick with non-comedogenic (non pore blocking products) such as a cream cleanser and oil free moisturiser. The french pharmacy brands are good for this. Then I would try a retinol containing product which will hopefully help with breakouts. If this doesn't help, see your GP for a medicated retinoid.

Re: Red dry cheeks.

Avoid anything that might be making it worse such as soaps or foaming washes or alcohol based toners. Stick with a cream based cleanser and a rich moisturiser. If this doesn't help, see your GP about some antiinflammatory creams.

Re: Iitchy skin

Sorry to hear this. Dermatologists deal with this problem a lot, it's known as chronic pruritus. The first thing is to establish there is no underlying reason for the itch, so do ask your GP about blood tests (such as iron and thyroid). Make sure you are not on any medication which can cause itch. C...

Re: Shower gel/body lotion breakouts

It's likely that the product you used had ingredients which blocked your pores and led to spots. Stick with non-comedogenic (non-pore blocking) washes to ensure it doesn't happen again.

Re: Spots

Unfortunately, spots can strike at any time. Make sure you are not using lots of pore-blocking products. Avoid facial oils, greasy balms or moisturisers. Stick with non comedogenic (non-pore blocking) cleansers and moisturisers. Use make up which is oil free and avoid powders. If this doesn't help, ...
