Re: Apple cider vinegar

Hi, While there is no scientific evidence that cider vinegar eases arthritis, it's a traditional remedy that's stood the test of time and there's lots of anecdotal evidence that it does help some people. Margaret Hills, a nurse who suffered from arthritis advocated taking one dessertspoonful of cide...

Re: Young with OA,what is the future?

Hi Jenny,

With regard to exercise - I realise it's hard to get the balance right, but I think it's worth experimenting with different types and amounts of activity to find out what gives you the most benefit without triggering more pain.

I hope you find some relief from your OA pain.

Re: Neck arthritis

Hi, I too suffer from neck arthritis and highly recommend doing daily neck exercises to help relieve pain, ease stiffness, loosen and strengthen the muscles and improve the range of movement. Exercises like head retraction - which involves pulling your head back slowly as far as you can, while looki...

Re: lipodema effect lymphodema

Hi, Just to add to Stephen's post, lipoedema is a chronic complaint where there is an abnormal build-up of fat cells in the legs, thighs and buttocks. Lipoedema can often block the vessels of your lymphatic system preventing them from draining the excess fluid from the tissues and thus causing lymph...

Re: Differences between types of arthritis

Hi, In a nutshell, rheumatoid arthritis and psoriatic arthritis both cause inflammation in and around the joints, however psoriatic arthritis only affects people who suffer from the skin condition psoriasis. Re: OA treatments

Hi Tracey, Apart from the treatments you're already using, it's very important to watch your weight, as being overweight is a major factor in the development of OA - especially in weight-bearing joints such as the knees and hips, as every excess pound exerts about 4 pounds more pressure on the knees...

Re: Young with OA,what is the future?

Hi Jenny1, In addition to your exercise regime and the excellent advice you've already been offered, have you considered trying a supplement? Some people find relief from supplements like Indian frankincense, SAMe, sigesbeckia, glucosamine, chondroitin and turmeric - and since you can't take anti-in...

Re: Weather and Pain

Hi, I too have degenerative disc disease in my neck and have found that doing specific neck exercises for the problem - as advised by a physiotherapist, has helped to reduce the pain - especially down my arm. The exercises not only help to improve your range of movement, ease stiffness and strengthe...

Re: Neck and Shoulders

Hi, I can sympathise with you, as I've suffered from arthritis in my neck for over 14 years. I agree with Rachael - you've made an excellent move by seeking advice from a physiotherapist, as doing the right exercises each day can help to ease the pain and stiffness of arthritis. It's also vital that...
