Re: nocturnal micturation
Hi passing urine at night (nocturia) is a common problem and can be very difficult to sort out, mainly because there are so many different reasons for it. The simplest reason is obviously drinking fluid, especially tea or coffee during the later part of the evening, and as you have done, it is worth...

Re: Bloated stomach-loose stool
Hi apologies for delay in replying - we missed the deadline at the end of the clinic. I am sorry to hear of the problems you are having. It is obviously difficult to give advice in this setting due to the comoplex investigations you have already had - however, if those tests are normal, it does sugg...

Hi you are describing 'male pattern baldness' also known as androgenic baldness (although obviously early stages!) options: 1. accept gracefully (avoiding the subsequent combover!) 2. topical minoxidil solution - can take a few months (4-6) to start to see hair growth 3. a drug called Propecia (fina...

Re: Prostate testing
Hi 30 as far as you know or healthy as far as you know?! Thankfully you are still on the young side to be worrying about prostate disease - benign enlargement (non-cancerous) of the prostate tends to begin in your 50's or 60's and likewise prostate cancer is rare below these ages. There has been ver...

Re: Tennis Elbow
I'll leave the physio side of things to some of the other experts on here - but from a GP perspective, the main things you can do are to ease back on your tennis at present, use an anti-inflammatory gel such as ibuleve or similar and possibly buy a tennis elbow clasp from your pharmacy. I used to in...

Re: Availability of Norfloxacin
It might well be a good idea - the trouble is that this solution runs the risk of failing in the future - worth thinking about any underlying reason for recurrent infection, possible involvement of a microbiologist if necessary - so I think a re-referral for review would be a good plan.

Re: Enlarged prostate plus overactive bladder
yes, if flow tests have shown reasonable flow and good emptying, you really want to work out if you have evidence on urodynamics of an overactive bladder which is just failing to respond to anticholinergic drugs - if that were the case, it might be worth considering a trial of a new medication calle...

Re: incontinence relief by Ciallis
Hi Cialis (tadalafil) has recently been licensed for treating urinary symptoms due to BPH - benign enlargement of the prostate - it is prescribed as a daily dose of 5mg - clearly an option for men with BPH who also have erectile dysfunction - and the 2 conditions are strongly linked. However, it is ...

Hi worrying for you - clearly he needs full assessment and I would echo Gary's note of caution until you have a clearer picture of what is wrong with him. If he really is breathless on mild exertion I would stop him playing football until you have more answers. The ECG you mention - it is common in ...
