Re: Finding the cause

Hi! Allergy testing will be a good place to start; at least it would give you a direction on whether it is dust mite/ food/ mold/ pet/ pollen etc that you need to be aware of. Otherwise, unless it's a very consistent allergic flare-up, it's quite difficult to narrow it down as it could be a mix of e...

Re: Itching after nap and at night, please help!

Hi! It's quite common for kids to be scratching when they have nothing to do - often around naps and at night. My kid was scratching her head for years, just before bedtime. It's quite a bit of trial and error, but you can explore: - check if there is scalp eczema -it's not so obvious, but you can t...

Sorry to hear of the persistent problem.. has any doctor offered to do a skin swap to just test for different bacteria/fungus to rule these out? Take care!

Re: I've to make a decision

It's really hard to say how much it would be effective... but it's best to manage your expectations as many companies are working on eczema treatment apart from steroid but few have come up with a solution. Is there a dermatologist who can advise you? I guess knowing if there are more existing treat...

Re: Eczema skin help

Try an antiseptic gentle cleanser like Octenisan? My kid has eczema from 2 weeks old, and last year, it worsened at 10 years old due to heat from change in classroom and physical exercise outdoors in school. Through the doctor's consultation, and skin swap tests, realized that staph bacteria really ...

Re: Covid19

Found an article on blood borne virus and then a possible route is damaged skin. https://www.hse.gov.uk/biosafety/blood-borne-viruses/spread.htm Covid19 is airborne, so not like hep or hiv. Regarding over-reactivity, am not sure.. don't think will have studies on this but my daughter had shingles ve...

Re: Please send advice!

Oh dear.. does the skin feel warm or tender/ fever etc? Infection can be dangerous especially if widespread. I'm not sure if there is a clinic to go to, or how to get prescription should it be bacterial infection? Meanwhile, I would take care to use an anti-bacterial wash that is non-drying to skin,...

Re: eczema, emollients, and intimacy

My daughter has very dry skin and dislike greasy lotion. What we did was apply a high quality ceramide/lipids lotion, followed by a less greasy but still cream-based moisturizer over the lotion layer. Not sure if that would help your skin to be hydrated without the greasy feel. It's a lot more expen...

Re: dyshidrotic eczema or herpetic whitlow?

Sorry to hear that.. not sure, cos could also be bacterial/ fungal as well. One thing to note is if infected blisters pose sepsis risk, which can be life threatening.. so if have fever, chills, have to go hospital. Understand won't be easy during covid19, not sure what help you can get where you are...
