Postpartum sex

Hi,

I had a baby in December, required one stitch and was super lucky to heal extremely quickly with no complications.

Me and my husband first tried to have sex when I was 8 weeks postpartum. Even though, we managed to have full intercourse it wasn't as enjoyable as before. We have since had sex a further 3 times and our baby is now 12 weeks old. Each time it is extremely uncomfortable for the first couple of minutes and then is absolutely fine and now even better than before.

I know I am probably expecting things to go back a little quickly and understand I am very lucky to have healed as quickly as I have. Is what I am experiencing normal when I have no discomfort any other time?

Re: Postpartum sex

If you are still breastfeeding this may lower your estrogen levels and make intercourse uncomfortable to due vaginal dryness. You mention pain at the beginning which goes but perhaps have the area examined as it may be just a small area of scar tissue that could be treated with minor surgery or injection.
