Is there an explanation between IBS and bloating when you eat anything? I keep away from wheat but when I eat anything, I bloat and feel uncomfortable. Any advice?

Hi jivejunkie

Bloating is a symptom of IBS and commonly is described as the symptom that most people would want to change. It can occur with what you eat and also how you eat. Please see the attached link to the IBS Network information on bloating here https://www.theibsnetwork.org/bloating/. Some simple solutions to try are:
1) Eat slowly and chew your food thoroughly as swallowed air can make bloating worse.
2) Avoid chewing gum.
3) Cut down on fizzy drinks.
4) Limit intake of foods known to cause gas such as beans and pulses, Brussel sprouts, cauliflower and sugar-free mints and sugar-free gum.
5) If you wear dentures ensure they are not loose.
If the above advice doesn't help then you could try the low fodmap diet, this is not something to try without the help of a dietitian, so ask your GP for a referral.
Also, see the link on the IBS network site at the bottom of the bloating page for how to relieve bloating.
I hope this helps
