frequency of normal consistency

Not diarrhoea but multiple stools per day, from 3 to 7. IBS has been diagnosed for many years and fibre of 25g approx per day is taken, including Fybogel. Should this be changed - is it a fibre issue or just plain IBS? Any other suggestions please?

Hi eddswitts44

It is difficult to say without more information I'm afraid. What I would recommend is asking your GP to refer you to a dietitian who can complete a full assessment and give you more advice on what can be helpful, if you want to explore the effects of diet. Dietary fibre is essential to include and does affect bowel function. When you visit your GP, it is also perhaps worth asking for a review of your laxatives to see if a different one might be more helpful, or whether the dose needs to be modified, perhaps.
