Constipation
Is it normal to not open your bowels for a period of 7 days or more. My GP told me this was normal, even though I was so uncomfortable and feeling so awful....I did feel even worse when she told me I was just a silly girl too, and that I was worrying over nothing.

Re: Constipation
Hi,
When it comes to going to the loo there's no such thing as 'normal' as the number of bowel movements varies from one person to another. One person may usually go three times a day, while another may only go three times a week and that may be normal for them.
However, if you've noticed you're going to the loo less than normal and your poo is hard and pellet-like - these are signs that you're constipated.
The fact that you felt 'uncomfortable' and 'awful' suggests that something is amiss. Perhaps you could see a different doctor to get another opinion?
In the meantime you could see if increasing your fibre and liquid intake and being more active helps your symptoms. Please see another of my posts for further information

I hope this helps.
