Pencil Stools
I have large uterine fibroids. Could these be the cause of my pencil stools?

Hi Shirleya,
It is possible that very large fibroids could put pressure on the outside of the large intestine, thereby narrowing it and causing pencil stools. However, this is not a common scenario. Have you had any tests or imaging to suggest this is the case?
More commonly, pencil stools can be seen in functional problems like irritable bowel syndrome.
However, it is important to check that there is nothing else causing a narrowing of the bowel. This can be done with an endoscopy test to look in the bowel.
I would suggest you speak to your GP about the problem who will be able to explore it in more detail, as well as examine you, to decide on the most sensible next step.
Kind regards,
