Rosacea

Hello, I've been taking Doxycycline (100mg) daily for around 6 years now. It seems to control most facial redness but I still get large painful cysts, often the size of a marble. I currently have one above my eye. My GP says there isn't anything else that can help me. I've been suffering this way for over 20 years now. Is there anything else I can do?
Regards

Re: Rosacea

Dear Rachel

I'm sorry to hear that you have been suffering with Rosacea- the impact of this condition is often underestimated by health professionals.

Rosacea is a chronic inflammatory condition and unfortunately as I am sure you are well aware there is no cure.

Treatment options for you would include:

1. Consider changing antibiotic to lymecycline
2. Consider adding in Ivermectin cream along with your Doxycycline.
3. You might be an appropriate candidate for Isotretinoin. This treatment can sometimes help difficult to control Rosacea, however in my experience it can be a bit hit and miss.

See if your GP can refer you to a dermatologist to see if your'e a candidate for Isotretinoin if the above measures do not work.
