10 yo with HS

My 10 year old daughter had hs. She is being treated at Sheffield children's hospital but due to the strain on the NHS is not being seen as often as needed. She is currently taking clindamicin and rifampacin and was supposed to be taking for 6 weeks but has been much longer and just been given an app for next week. She has taken these 2 before but she is still getting new boils. She has tried other antibiotics and topical creams but nothing is stopping the outbreaks. I am worried about the next stage they want to try when we eventually get to see the doctor because it can stunt grown and stain teeth. Any suggestions/help for my baby would be gratefully received.

Re: 10 yo with HS

I am so sorry to hear about your daughter!

there is a number of options available and I am sure your dermatologist will discuss them with you.
These include retinoids (isotretinoin, acitretin), ciclosporin, methotrexate and biologics. These are powerful medicines and would require close monitoring and blood tests.

I hope this is helpful.
