Anyone else get this when ovulation?

Had an odd pain start yesterday just above my belly button to the right. The pain was sharp, stabbing and lasted for a few seconds. Hours later the same thing happened again. Went to the GP today ad I got a bit worried about appendicitis etc. She ruled that out but today the pain is still there but not as bad and it comes and goes maybe once every few hours or so.
Also noticed I'm ovulation today.

The question I'm trying to ask is if anyone gets a sharp stabbing pain near or above their belly button when ovulating?

Hi peachymama,

Thank you for your question.

What you are describing sounds like something some women do experience around ovulation time. It is called mittelschmerz and please find information here about it:

We hope this helps! :)

Ovulation pain, sometimes called mittelschmerz, can feel like a sharp, or like a dull cramp, and happens on the side of the abdomen where the ovary is releasing an egg. It generally happens 10-16 days before the start of your period, is not dangerous, and is usually mild.
