A smear is just another name for a pap test. You will lay back in the chair, put your feet in the stirrups. Then your gyno will insert a metal instrument called a speculate, it an be cold, but it's not painful; you'll feel a bit of pressure as he/she opens your vaginal walls to access your cervix. After that, your gyno will swab your cervix with what looks like a big q-tip, you really wont feel that. After that, he/she will put some lubrication on his/her hand, then slide two fingers inside to feel your uterus and ovaries to make sure everything feels well.
