When will periods become regular?

So I just turned 18, and my periods are still irregular!
I started my period when I was 13, had a 6 month gap, then followed by a year and a half gap!
After this, I went to my GP and they gave me a contraceptive pill to take for a year. When I got off the pill, my periods began to happen every 3-4 months.
Then I went on holiday, and took norethisterone to delay my period (I only took it for 2 weeks).. this then led to my period happening every month, but lasted 15 days!
Now, my period has not come in over 2 months!!
(I know this is such a loong story! :( )
But I am really worried, Ive been to my GP and they are useless! They keep saying if I have polycystic ovaries there's not much that I can do at my age (I did have a scan when I was about 14)

What shall I do? Shall I go to an alternative doctor for a different opinion? I don't just want to be put on contraceptive pills again because it makes me gain weight :(

Please help! :)
