Strange anatomy? Very painful

Hi I'm 17 years old and to put it plainly I have a very good sexual relationship with my boyfriend. We're open with each other which helps a lot but talking won't quite settle the intense pain after having sex.
As a result of a session of self discovery I found that I have a fleshy bit of skin in my vaginal opening that's securely attached the the upper side of the opening as if it's meant to be there; it has always been there.
I was curious ass to it it was a hymen but I've had a lot of sex and my boyfriend is too well endowed not to have broken it so I ruled that out.
After sex it feels as if it's ripped away slightly, occasionally it will bleed slightly but not often and oh my goodness does it hurt to wee after. I have no std's and I'm normal with everything else; we always use lube and lots of it so that's not the problem.
Would anybody be able to tell me the problem? Am I made weirdly? Can I do anything to get it under control? Can I get it removed? What is it? What does it do?
Thank you for reading and I hope you can help.
