Take the poo out of shampoo

An alarming number of hair problems can be resolved by making sure you’re using the right shampoo. It’s really important to check the PH level of your favorite brand. It needs to be at around 6 and not higher than 7. You can read all about the science but basically at these levels your shampoo becomes more acidic and helps to keep your cuticles lay flat. Anything over 7 is alkaline which opens the cuticles and exposes your hair to damage.

Many manufacturers do not print the PH levels on their products and make vastly different quality goods for sale in salons. It’s easy to check though! A piece of litmus paper, easily purchased on Amazon, will tell you all you need to know. A quick hunt on the net will also give you lists of PH balanced shampoo’s.

The other big thing to avoid is sulfate. This chemical is used to bulk out the volume and create the foam. There’s been lots of dodgy reports about how this chemical is harming our hair and health. You can see more here http://sulfatefreeshampoos.org/sulfate- ... mpoo-list/

If you’re worried about hair loss check out the Nioxin and Philip Kingsley products. I’ve heard lots of good things about them.

If you’re suffering from Androgenetic (pattern baldness) alopecia, it’s worth checking out DHT blocking shampoos.
