Neck pain

Hello,
My bust measurement is 40L. I suffer constantly from neck pains, shoulder aches and headaches daily.
If my bra straps are on the edge of my shoulders I feel a tingling sensation in my arm.
Is there any pain reliever I can take. Apart from paracetamol or ibuprofen to ease the constant pain and discomfort.

Regards.

Re: Neck pain

Dear Nancypoj,

Many thanks for your post – I hope my advice will be helpful for you.

Breast size is generally determined by a woman’s genes, hormones, body frame and weight. This size can alter with weight so women often find that their breast size increases if they put on weight or become pregnant.

I would not advise using any painkiller other than paracetamol or ibuprofen for regular pain relief without seeing your GP.

Some women are able to reduce the size of their breasts by losing weight through a healthy diet and exercise; this may be something you wish to discuss further with your GP or local pharmacy?

Wearing a professionally fitted bra may also help to reduce the pain you are currently experiencing. There are a number of lingerie stockists who specialise in larger bust brassieres and specialist fitting; perhaps a consultation would be worthwhile?

Breast reduction surgery can help women who are unhappy with the size, weight, shape of their breasts by making them smaller and more lifted. The availability of this surgery on the NHS is variable depending on your local clinical commissioning group (CCG). NHS choices advise that you may be considered for breast reduction on the NHS if you have a physical discomfort from having large breasts. This may include back ache and neck pain which you have stated you are suffering from.
I would advise that you visit your GP to discuss this further. I do not condone the regular use of painkillers without being reviewed by a GP and perhaps your GP could advise on other options such as supporting you losing weight and trying to partake in regular exercise as well as the possibility of breast reduction surgery if that is something you wished to pursue.

Take Care,

Sarah
