Hot flushes nightsweats etc etc

Hi another newbie to the forum. I had cancer in last year and had a hysterectomy in Dec. Came out on Xmas Day Yay. I recovered well but in the last 4 weeks have been having terrible flushes, night sweats, etc. Also cannot take HRT. Lack of sleep is driving me mad.

Hello and welcome to talkmenopause. You are very brave and I'm pleased to hear your recovering well. Have you checked out the expert online forum we ran in March? You may find some of the answers to your questions there - http://talkhealthpartnership.com/forum/ ... m.php?f=82 - we ran a clinic on line for a week in association with NHS Choices and also the British Menopause Society - we had four experts answering questions. Have a look - I hope it helps.

I hope we can all help you here on our forums.

Best wishes
Deborah

Still having the old sweats.. kind of see them as my own central heating system which hopefully will help through what might be a cold winter :-)

I'm also a newbie and have stopped having a period for about 9 months so hoped I'd got off lightly. Unfortunately I am now getting hot flushes/night sweats and mood swings. I don't want to go onto HRT as it seems to just defer the inevitable, as you have to go through it as some point from what I have read. I hoped to at least find some indicator of how long this will last but it seems it can be for years. Not much fun. I'm seriously thinking of moving to the spare room because I'm so restless at night!

I didn't want to do HRT either. I found by changing my diet, my whole life changed. I am not a dieter and never have been. When I found out that I didn't need to be on a diet I was thrilled. My hormones became more balanced and all my symptoms disappeared! Now I help other women with their food so they too can balance their hormones and get their life back. I hear ya about sleeping in the other room....been there too. It doesn't have to be like that though. I'm almost 50 and i feel better than I ever have! I have a website where you can get some free smoothie recipes: healthfuleverafter.com It's a start! I wish you all the best!

I've just found this site. I wish I had found it when I was starting the menopause as I've been struggling for years. I'm one of the lucky ones who started early :( I can relate to all that you've been saying, hot flushes, night sweats, hormone imbalance. It all adds up to me having become a very irritable woman. Whether this is due to lack of proper sleep, hormones, upset that my body is changing, who knows. All I do know is that it's like childbirth you can't imagine what it's like until you're going through it yourself! Will look forward to chatting with other like minded people about our various highs and lows to the next stage of our bodies life :)
