Excess hair

It is thought that around 25% of middle-aged women regularly remove unwanted facial hair as the lack of oestrogen allows testosterone to become more dominant during the menopause.

HRT works by correcting the drop in oestrogen. However rather than prevent excess hair growth, HRT can also cause it.

Experts state that if HRT is causing unwanted hair you should see your GP as there are other options for you to consider.
