Contraception at nearly 50

I'm a 49 year old woman. I think I'm premenopausal as my periods are irregular and im getting hot flushes.
I was on the pill for over 30 years but have come off all birth control because of the side effects and also I'm seeing someone but we very rarely have sex, maybe once every 3 months. It's more of a companionship as both of our sex drives are quite low. Is it safe for me to stay off contraception including the coil without fear of getting pregnant? I've been feeling much better since I've been off it.

Hi Fairy1971,

Thank you for your post regarding contraception. Unfortunately we are unable to give out specific medical advice here. In this instance we would suggest consulting with your GP who will be able to guide you.

Kind regards
