Dear Kelly,

Many thanks for your query and sorry to hear about your hair loss. Hair loss can be caused by many different factors, some of which can co-exist in the same person. Common causes include stress, genetics, hormones, medication, thyroid disease and nutritional deficiencies.

It is therefore important for you to see a specialist who will be able to go through your history in detail and run some basic blood tests to see which of these are relevant in your case, and to start treatments accordingly. There is reasonable evidence that Biotin supports healthy nail growth but no evidence it results in increased hair growth.

Hair loss can be a very traumatic experience for many people, the stress of which can contribute to further hair loss. Apart from seeking medical advice, it may be helpful to connect with support groups such as Alopecia UK who can provide additional support and resources during this stressful time.

I hope you manage to get some resolution to your hair loss soon.

Best wishes

Sharon

I have heard that black seed oil is good for hair loss. Is there any truth in it? I was thinking of buying some and trying it.
