Psoriasis or Eczema?

Good morning, I have this constant dry, returning skin layers in both ears. I've been on the Ganodex trial and it has helped but not cleared the problem up completely. Is there any product that could heal it?

Re: Psoriasis or Eczema?

In the first instance you would need a diagnosis for the rash in the ears. The possibilities would include,

1. Seborrhoeic dermatitis
2. Eczema (or contact allergy)
3. Psoriasis

1. Seborrhoeic dermatitis is essentially very bad dandruff, therefore you may also notice a rash or flaking of skin in your scalp, around your nose and eye brow's. This can be treated with regular Nizoral shampoo an emollient and a topical steroid such as Eumovate (2 weeks).

2. Eczema/ allergy- If you have a history of eczema or have been using ear drops for other conditions then these can often cause a contact allergy. You may want to consider Patch (allergy) testing via a dermatologist.

3. Psoriasis: if you have a family history of psoriasis or other areas such as the elbows, knees, scalp, umbilicus are affected then psoriasis could be a potential diagnosis. Consider treating with an emollient and a topical cream such as silkis ointment or Protopic ointment (from GP).

I hope that helps.
