Itchy scar
Good afternoon,
I had a circumcision about 5 years ago. I am now 72 years of age but still fit and healthy.Although I have type 2 diabetes managed with tablets.
Where the circumcision scar is just behind the glans it gets itchy on occasion. Although it is not an unpleasant feeling it can be a bit embarrassing to want to scratch. Are there any creams or oils you could recommend please. Also will it ever get better
Kind Regards
Ken

Re: Itchy scar
Hi Ken,
Thank you for your query.
Scars, even if years old, can become itchy and inflamed. I would suggest you see your GP for a prescription of a cortisone (steroid) cream or ointment to use whenever the itching appears. Occasionally if this doesn't settle the itching (and the scar is raised and lumpy ie a keloid scar), injections of steroids can be administered to the scar tissue, both to settle the itching and flatten the scar.
Hope this helps
