My scalp is so itchy. I do have quite dry skin and use skin cream but you can't put cream or oil on the scalp except perhaps before washing. It is mostly at night and wakes me up. also every time I comb my hair or touch my scalp.

Thank you. If you have flaking (dandruff) with the itching it would be worth trying an over the counter shampoo specifically for dry flaky scalp. These usually contain anti-dandruff ingredients such as ketoconazole, piroctone olamine, selenium sulphide or zinc pyrithione. If the scalp is also red/inflamed then I would advise you see your GP for prescription topical steroid liquids or shampoos.
